Facebook Giveaway: Barilla’s Pasta and Basilico Sauce

Hello, October! This month, I have a special announcement: Barilla giveaway!

There are several pasta brands out there, some better than the others. Let’s talk about one of my favourites: Barilla! I have been using this brand of pasta and sauces for a very long time, they are always delicious and the pasta comes out perfectly al dente every time I get around to making it. So when Barilla launched their latest bottled sauce: Basilico, I jumped on the opportunity to not just create a delectable recipe out of it, but also organise a giveaway for you, the lovely cravers!

The pasta that you see in this video is pretty straightforward and easy to make. In fact, the sauce does most of the heavy lifting, I’m not embarrassed to admit. I’ve added chicken chorizo to this. There’s something magical about chicken chorizo. First off, I must say I am not one for processed food. I mean, you hardly know what goes into that chicken nugget that you crave so dearly, forgive me for saying. Having said that though, these chorizo sausages I get from NTUC are just perfect. They are made with 100% meat that has been cured with paprika, chillies and a plethora of other spices that all lend a kick to any recipe. Also, if you want this to be a tad creamy, add some cream (I vote for coconut cream, as I’m not quite done with my coconut obsession)! Enjoy the recipe, and head over to the Cravings! Facebook page to take part in the giveaway!

Facebook Giveaway: Barilla’s Pasta and Basilico Sauce

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 200g Barilla Spaghetti
  • 150g Barilla Basilico Sauce
  • 150g Chicken Chorizo Sausage
  • 1 Onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Bring a large pan of water to boil over medium heat. Then, add a heaped tablespoon of salt, followed by the pasta. Cook until al dente.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the oil in a medium-sized pan. Add the onions into the hot oil, and saute until soft. You can salt the onions at this stage if you'd like it not burn. Then, add the sausages and continue to stir the contents of the pan. The chorizo will let out some of its wonderful juices, which will be great for the pasta.
  3. Now, quickly check on the pasta. It should be al-dente. Drain and set aside.
  4. 2 mins later, add the Barilla Basilico sauce and stir through until throughly combined and heated, which should be in about a minute. Add the salt at this stage.
  5. Finally, add the cooked pasta. Stir through such that the sauce coats each golden strand of spaghetti. Your pasta dish is now ready to serve.
