The space feels like stepping into a modern alchemist’s laboratory. Former interior designers Taln Sudarat Rojanavanich and Aum Veerach Sawaengsupt created this “drinking room.” Shelves display specimen jars containing dried flowers, herbs, and spices. Dark wooden tables and strategic lighting maintain intimate sophistication.
The Drinks
The real magic happens in the drinks themselves. This isn’t your typical cocktail menu. Bar Us specialises in savoury cocktails that challenge every preconception. The “chicken stock + bitter gourd” starter combines distilled bitter gourd in Haku vodka. Add shiitake mushrooms, and you get an umami-rich experience. It straddles the line between beverage and snack.
Even more audacious is the “beef + onion” main course cocktail. This completely clear drink tastes unmistakably like drinking a cheeseburger. They infuse beef jerky with Ketel One vodka. Fragrant jalapeños provide balance. It’s simultaneously bizarre and brilliant.
The technical execution is impressive. The team employs distillation, infusion, and sous vide techniques. Extensive behind-the-scenes preparation is required. Each drink feels like a carefully composed dish that contains alcohol. And every spirit is made in-house.
