AI, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a riverfront Lobby Lounge. The most unexpectedly interesting afternoon tea Singapore has seen in a while.
Afternoon tea in Singapore is having a moment. Between botanical menus, chef collaborations, and increasingly elaborate themed spreads, AI is all that’s left.
This July, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore and Singapore wellness brand Luli are launching the first afternoon tea in Singapore with Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic technology into the experience. Diners get a personalised wellness afternoon tea where your cup of herbal tea is chosen specifically for you, based on what your body actually needs that afternoon, not just what’s on the menu.
When You Arrive
Before anything is poured, you get an AI-powered tongue scan using Aiteaic’s AI Mirror, a technology platform developed by TCM herbal tea brand Luli.
In 30 seconds, the system analyses your tongue characteristics and identifies your TCM body constitution. Are you running Qi deficient? Tending toward Damp-Heat? Yin Deficient? AI makes the call, and from there, a personalised herbal tea recommendation is generated from Luli’s collection of ten functional blends.
The recommended tea is then freshly brewed using Aiteaic’s patented nanobubble high-pressure extraction technology. This method preserves up to 97% of the herbs’ active compounds, compared to the 40–60% yield you’d get from conventional steeping.
The entire scan-to-sip process takes less than two minutes. The philosophy behind all of this is 药食同源 (yào shí tóng yuán) the ancient Chinese concept of food as medicine.
The Afternoon Tea Singapore Experience: Teas Worth Knowing About

The collection comprises ten functional blends, each developed with specific TCM intentions and authentic flavour profiles. They have worked to make the teas as enjoyable as they are functional.
A few highlights from the range include:
Ziziphus, Lily & Poria Tea: formulated to support Qi stagnation, with delicate floral and berry notes. One of the lighter, more approachable blends in the collection.
American Ginseng, Goji & Chrysanthemum Tea: a warming blend traditionally associated with circulation and vitality. This is the one for an afternoon slump.
Tangerine Peel & Dendrobium Tea: designed to support Yin nourishment, with bright and refreshing citrus notes and a clean finish.
Malva Nut & Monkfruit Tea: the cooling option, traditionally enjoyed for its soothing properties. Good for the kind of heavy-humidity Singapore afternoon that makes you want to lie down.
The teas in this range are formulated with therapeutic intention and flavour. The 97% extraction yield means you’re not drinking a suggestion of the herb, you’re drinking the actual thing.
The Food That Goes With It

The afternoon tea menu was developed collaboratively between Grand Copthorne Waterfront and Luli.
On the savoury side, the Thailand Flavourscape theme (running in parallel at the hotel through August) feeds into the menu: Lemongrass Chicken with Sweet Chilli Dip, Thai Fish Cakes with Nam Jim Sauce, Tom Yum Goong Seafood Tartlet, and a Mango and Papaya Salad with Roasted Peanuts.
Got a sweet tooth? The Ginseng Infused Chocolate 66% is a chocolate mousse built around Luli’s American Ginseng and Chrysanthemum Tea. Think deep cocoa notes with a floral, herbal undercurrent that genuinely surprises. The light Chrysanthemum Chantilly is made with whipped cream slowly infused with Chrysanthemum Tea, paired with tea-soaked sponge.
There’s also the option to elevate beyond tea entirely. Add-ons include a personalised low-ABV wellness cocktail ($24++ for two) or a wellness mocktail ($12++ for two), both curated to complement your individual AI assessment result.

An AI reads your tongue. A decade of TCM formulation informs your tea. Someone brings you a chocolate mousse with ginseng in it. There are worse ways to spend a Thursday afternoon.
