Din Tai Fung ION Orchard Opens

Din Tai Fung ION Orchard opened on 29 August 2026.

Rather than following the template of its more recent Singapore openings, Din Tai Fung chose to build this one in the image of the original Xinyi Road shop in Taipei, where the Din Tai Fung story began.

Din Tai Fung has been serving up their irresistible Xiao Long Baos (XLBs as we shorten all the time) for over 60 years now.

The 100-seat restaurant spans 3,000 square feet, located at #B4-03 in ION Orchard. The design at this restaurant is more intimate than some of their other neighbourhood outlets. They’ve also included a dedicated heritage wall as part of the design. This traces the brand’s journey from a cooking oil shop in 1958, to the global icon it became. It’s a giant story board, showing how the founder’s son pivoted to xiao long bao in the early 1970s.

A replicated version of Din Tai Fung’s original signboard reading “Din Tai Fung Oil Retail” is also displayed here. This is a first for any any Singapore location.

Two Dishes You Can Only Get Here

New dishes in Din Tai Fung

The ION Orchard opening introduces two exclusive dishes, each reinterpreting a Taiwanese everyday staple.

The Noodles with Shrimp and Pork Wantons in Peanut Sesame Sauce ($14.80) pairs springy noodles with hand-wrapped wantons and a fragrant peanut sesame sauce. It is hearty, comforting, and rooted in everyday Taiwanese home cooking that shaped the brand’s identity.

The Shrimp and Pork Wantons in Spicy Sauce ($12.80) pairs the same wanton with a spicy kick. Both sit alongside the full classic menu, including the signature Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao with its precisely executed 18 folds.

Diners who spend $80 or more (before GST and service charge) while stocks last can also receive a complimentary limited-edition Bao Zai pouch. This small collectable captures the brand’s character, and is a nice take-home for anyone who’s a fan of the brand.

A Brand Film and a Long Game

The opening also marks the debut of Din Tai Fung Singapore’s first local film. This 60-second video centres on the precision and craft the brand has built its reputation on.
